Since the building to be restored is a historical property, the objective of the renovation project was to clearly distinguish the new construction from the pre-existing property.
This portion of the villa, with an area of 2,153 sq. ft. and ceilings as high as 39 ft., was restored in its entirety reusing its original materials. To the apartment’s interior, however, dividing walls made of 6-inch thick plywood were added. All electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as soundproofing caulk and a sound system, were installed between these walls. The stairs are also built-in and therefore serve a second purpose as bookcases or storage. The exterior walls are birch wood veneer. Since the windows added to the interior walls are hammered (safety glass), they allow light to filter into the rooms located farthest from the exterior windows while still ensuring privacy.
